Overview

Text Progress partially displays text, character by character.

Text Progress is most commonly used to recreate the effect of a typing a line of text on a typewriter, but it can be used for other letter-by-letter style effects as well. It has several options.

Start determines how much of the beginning of the string is removed from view. A value of 0% will show the entire string, while an intermediate value like 50% will remove the first 50% of characters from view.

End determines how much of the end of the string is removed from view. A value of 100% will show the entire string, while an intermediate value like 50% will remove the last 50% of characters from view.

Cursor places a simulated cursor at the end of the text, to simulate a word processor cursor. Several types of cursor can be selected.

Blink Cursor, when set to On, will make the cursor blink on and off, much like that of a word processor.

Notes

Alignment

The visible portion of the text layer will adhere to the alignment settings under Edit Text, as if the visible portion of the layer was the entire layer. For example, if the text is left aligned and the start slider is moved to 50%, removing the first 50% of characters from view, the remaining text will align itself to the left edge of the bounding box. They do not stay in their previous positions.
