Failed Starting Asset Reader

Failed Starting Asset Reader errors may happen when one of the media files you’re using isn’t supported by Alight Motion. For example, the file may be too heavy, requiring more resources (RAM) than what your device has to export it, or the file is in an unsupported format.

We recommend trying each of the following and exporting after each to troubleshoot the issue:

  1. Reboot your device. This will ensure that any other apps using video/audio resources will no longer be using them.

  2. Export from the project list as this uses fewer resources. On the project list tab, long-press the project thumbnail > tap Export at the bottom-left corner.

  3. Export from the project list by adjusting the export settings. Use a lower resolution, frame rate, or bitrate (Quality slider).

To open the export settings: on the project list tab, long-press the project thumbnail > tap Export at the bottom-left corner > tap the arrow (>) icon next to Video > adjust the settings here.

  4. Duplicate the project and remove one of the heavy layers. Try to export the project. Repeat this process throughout the different layers until it's possible to export.
